Poiesis Psychiatry
Approach
The word poiesis describes an interpretation that generates a new meaning. Poiesis Psychiatry is a clinic that focuses on the collaborative production of knowledge in mental health care. This approach applies to general psychiatric care, as well as the treatment of mental health symptoms occurring in the context of physical illness. Poiesis Psychiatry also accepts referrals for psychoanalysis.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Poiesis Psychiatry acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
In addition, we respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which the clinic is held, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pay respect to their Elders past and present.
Poiesis Psychiatry is committed to providing culturally safe mental health services. This commitment is represented by the continual development of a practice informed by the principles of the Cultural Respect Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
